He is a son of Mr. Thid Phay and Mrs. Bouathiem Sitthivong. In 1975, at the age of 11, he was ordained to be a novice at Vat Xiengthong. In 1985, at the age of 21, he was ordained to be a monk at Vat Simongkhoun in Nan District, Luang Prabang Province, Sathou Nyai Mao Manivangso, Abbot of Vat Xiengthong is his preceptor. In 1989, he was nominated to be an abbot of Vat Pak Khan (he moved from Vat Xiengthong). In 2001, he was nominated from Buddhist Sangha of Luang Prabang to be a director of Buddhist secondary school of Luang Prabang. In 2002, he was nominated to be a chief monk of Buddhist Fellowship Organization of Luang Prabang District, a member of Buddhist Fellowship Organization of Luang Prabang Province. In 2003, he was nominated from Provincial Department of Education of Luang Prabang to be a director of Buddhist secondary school of Luang Prabang.
