Wat Xiengthong in 1980.The Main Hall or Sim of Wat Xiengthong was built in 1560 by King Xaiyasethathirath which had magnificent art and architecture.It was 327 years old in 1887,and it was very shabby,so it was repaired by Phia Homsombath(the villager of Ban Xiengthong).It was repaired again in 1952 by Sathouyai Mao Manivangso and the monks and novices at Wat Xiengthong.The Provincial administration of Luangprabang,and Luangprabang Department of Information and culture gave fund to repair its roof and decrocrated arond the Sim in 1993(Information from the CV of Sathouyai Mao Manivangso the abbot of Wat Xiengthong which were distributed on his cremation day on Saturday 27 January 2001.This photo is the same as C0353,C0364,C0365).
