Sathou Nyai Khamchan Virachitto, the abbot of Vat Saen Soukharam, at the age of 39, meditated while he was practising Parivassakam (ritual retreat of purification) at Na Ngeun field near Ban Xieng Maen, Chomphet district, Luang Prabang in 1959.
