A photgraph of Santi Chedee at Vat Pa Phon Phao, Luang Prabang. "Santi Chedee" means "the stupa of peace". It was built by Sathou Nyai Xaysamout Chotiko, the Abbot of Vat Pa Phon Phao.It took 18 years to build it, from the 28th of April, 1969, to the 6th of October, 1987. The Sangharaj Dhammayana Mahathera, the last Sanharaj of the Lao Kingdom, had laid the first foundation stone for the stupa on the 25th of April, 1975. Sathou Nyai Khamchan Virachittathera, the Abbot of Vat Saen Sukharam and also the chief-monk of the Luang Prabang's Buddhist Fellowship Organization, had put the bone of the Buddha into the stupa on the 23rd of January, 1986. This photo was taken in 1994.
