From the kingdom of Santa Fe, Bishop of the Popayan Church promoted to Guatemala City in 1752, governing until June, 1765, when he died. He was buried in the Church of the Society of Jesus. His auxiliary bishop was Doctor Miguel de Cilieza, a teacher from the School of this Holy Church, but after the death of the Bishop, he was promoted to become the Bishop of Ciudad Real. Doctor Bernardo Marron, Canon of Toledo, was elected to be the successor of the Archbishop.
