Moving the Bruce Telescope

Four people (one obscured) hoisting a metal telescope tube, apparently without optics, using a crane. The tube exhibits scuff marks. Telescope mount (exposed drive mechanism at the base) in the background, next to a stepped observing chair. Graduated circle on the mount partially visible. Telescope enclosure open. Flooring is of wooden planks, and does not appear to be in pristine condition. From left to right the people are: Unidentified (face obscured), J.S. Paraskevopoulos, unidentified, Michiel J. Bester. Date: After 1937 (when Bester starts work) and before 1952 (Paras dies 1951). The mount and tube is of the Bruce Telescope. This photo may show the removal of the Bruce in preparation for the installation of the ADH Telescope in late-1950. The right half of the photograph is discoloured.
