Pictorial Narratives of Devnarayan epic

The part of the Par scroll painting, depicting various episodes of the epic. The composition is divided into three registers and further divides into subsections. The pictorial space, filled entirely in a set pattern, like on the top left section Lord Ganesha, then Goddess Saraswati depicted as they are invoked and worshipped before the performance. Then scene of churning of divine ocean and various incarnationation of Vishnu are illustrated. In the middle, Devnarayan, chief character of the epic, depicted on horse and also shown seated on the throne in the court. The other associated characters and events illustrated intricately at appropriate places. Custodial history: Collection of Komal Kothari, housed at Rupayan Sansthan.
