D. Furnadzhiev was born in 1866/1867 in Bansko in the family of Nikola Furnadzhiev, a longtime leader of the local Evangelical Church and mayor of the Evangelical church-school Municipality in Bansko, that existed until 1912 and has its 4 mayors. D. Furnadzhiev received his first education in Bansko and then studied for three years at the Theological School in Samokov. In 1888 he went to study in the United States. He graduated from the Theological Seminary in Princeton and was ordained a pastor. In Princeton he married to his wife - Zoritsa. In 1899, Furnadzhiev took up the Evangelical Church in Kiustendil, where he remained until 1906. He is then a pastor in Khaskovo, Plovdiv and Sofia. He travels back to the US, London and Edinburgh. He was part of the delegation of Bulgaria for the Peace Conference in Paris in 1919. For 32 years is a representative of the Evangelists in Bulgaria at the Ministry of Foreign and Religious Affairs. For 26 years he has been chairman of the Bulgarian Evangelical Society. He initiated the creation of the Evangelical Seminary in Samokov and after 1931 he became its Rector and Pastor in the local church. Extent: 1 photograph.
