Cloth scroll painting (thangkas) and other performance-related objects belonging to Kungri Gompa

The "archive" belonging to Kungri Gompa, the Nyingma school monastery in Pin Valley and the institution to which the Buchen are affliated. The materials in the archive are kept within the Peme Lingpa temple at the monastery and include five wooden printing blocks used in the tantric training of Meme Buchen and two religious scroll paintings (thangka) illustrating a particular story (namthar thangka); Buchen are actors, storytellers, exorcists and occasional healers. They are lay religious practitioners whose role is to spread the Dharma (teachings of the Buddha) often through entertainment. 3 Series : Texts, Thangkas and Other Objects.

The material is owned by Kungri Gompa. The two thangkas were presumably donated to the monastery but the printing blocks are owned by the monastery and relate to the tantric training of the Meme Buchen by the Lama Tipa of the Gompa. All the materials in the archive are kept within the Pema Lingpa temple at the monastery.
