Ecclesiastical Records of Paróquia de Nossa Senhora dos Milagres do São João do Cariri

This collection unites handwritten documents, written in Portuguese and contained in book form from the Paróquia de Nossa Senhora dos Milagres de São João do Cariri in Paraíba, Brazil. The volumes were produced in the Colonial, Imperial, and Republican periods and contain baptismal (1752-1928), marriage (1752-1931), death (1752-1931), confirmation (1778-1816) and kinship (1891-1917) documents relating to the free, freed, and enslaved populations, including white, black, Indian, and people of mixed racial/ethnic backgrounds. People referred to in these records were from the Cariri region or from other parishes, from the Mina Coast of Africa, Guiné, Mina, and Angola. There are also documents referring to parish finances (1766-1861).

Books produced by the Paróquia de Nossa Senhora dos Milagres de São João do Cariri, created on 3 April 1750. Between 1960 and 1992, the collection was under the custody of the Paróquia de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, located in Serra Branca. The collection was returned to the original parish in 1993.
