This collection unites handwritten documents, written in Portuguese and contained in book form from the Paróquia de Nossa Senhora dos Milagres de São João do Cariri in Paraíba, Brazil. The volumes were produced in the Colonial, Imperial, and Republican periods and contain baptismal (1752-1928), marriage (1752-1931), death (1752-1931), confirmation (1778-1816) and kinship (1891-1917) documents relating to the free, freed, and enslaved populations, including white, black, Indian, and people of mixed racial/ethnic backgrounds. People referred to in these records were from the Cariri region or from other parishes, from the Mina Coast of Africa, Guiné, Mina, and Angola. There are also documents referring to parish finances (1766-1861).
