Tahzib al-akhlaq [1985-2005]

Description: Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, educationalists and the social reformer of India has launched a monthly Urdu periodical "Tahzib al-akhlaq" in 1870 with the name "The Mohammedan Social Reformer". In short span of time this journal became popular and made good inroads into the hearts and minds of Muslim and the intellectual community of Muslims in India. The primary objective of publishing Tahzib al-akhlaq was to establishment of social harmony among the muslims of India, revival of true Islamic traditions, remove the misconception of Islam from the masses in regards with the modern devolpments. This mazagine carries articles on social, cultural, education and religious issues in the line with Sir Syed's emphasis on reforms and it also served as a vehicle for "Aligarh Movement". From the inception in 1870-1881, Tahzib al-akhlaq was discontinue twice and finally in 1881 it was merged with Aligarh Gezette. After a century later, in 1981 this magazine revived by the staunch supporter of Aligarh Movement. During the span of its publishing periods different editors have served this magazine were included; Sir Syed Ahmad Khan from 1870-1881; Mr. Qazi Moizuddin, 1981-1983; Prof. Nurul Hassan Naqvi, 1983-1986; Prof. Israr Ahmed, 1986-1990; Prof. Kabir Ahmed Jaisi, 1990-1993; Prof. Masood Alam and Prof. Abul Kalam Qasmi, 1996-2012.
