Muhammad Bashir Abubakar Collection of Fulfulde Jihad Poetry [18 - 19th centuries]

This collection contains 242 poems. Some of the poets are known and include: Hassan Ahmadu Ganye; Usman dan Fodio; Naana Asmaa''u Fodio (daughter of Usman dan Fodio); Moodibo Raaji (who stayed with Usman dan Fodio in Sokkoto and migrated to Aadamaawa); Taanu Mo Iililel (student of Moodibo Raaji); Sheehu Abdulaahi Gwandu (brother of Usman dan Fodio); Moodibbo Aminu (student of Moodibo Raaji); Dembo ''bii Juuti (disciple of Usman dan Fodio, stayed in Sokkoto); Hassan Ahmad (Muhammed Bashir Abubakar''s uncle and descendant of Moodibo Raaji); Malam Aminu Bello (Muhammed Bashir Abubakar''s Uncle and descendant of Moodibo Raaji); Saídu Bello (grandson of Usman dan Fodio). Most poems by Usman dan Fodio have been composed during the times of the jihads in West Africa hence the title Jihad poetry.
