Images depicting indigenous peoples of West Siberia, their life and environments in the early 20th century. Most of the shots were taken during different expeditions to the peoples dwelled in the basin of Ob’ river, Zyrians, Ostiaks, Nenets, and Mansi. These expeditions were organized and funded by the Museum of Tobol'sk Guberniya. Some plates are marked and were identified as taken by Dmitriev-Sadovnikov, Grigorii, Vasilii Pignatti, Nikolai Gorodkov, Novitskii Vasilii Mikhailovoch, and Nikolai Varpakhovskii. Additional mixed plates some of which likely to be part of the expeditions mentioned above, others submitted by Mikhail Tarunin.
