Aleqa Mengest's Private Collection [14th-17th centuries]

The not less than 15 manuscripts (some of the codices are paper ones) cover ecclessiastical subjects like hagiographies, commentaries, biblical books, etc. Out of these manuscripts, three andemta manuscripts were copied.

Arrangement and condition of original material: The codices in the collection are randomly numbered and placed on a big bed like shelf covered with a locally made cloth. The vellumanuscript are arranged in different bunches (Gebeta) which are sewed together to form the volume. The sewed vellumanuscript are bound with a hard cover. The volume is not paginated. There are clear notes when the commentary of a book is finished and a new one starts. All of the andemta manuscripts archived in the collection are in good condition.
