Serigne Mbaye Nguirane Collection

The collection contains digital copies of Wolofal (Wolof Ajami) manuscripts copied as part of the EAP 334 project. The collection includes five manuscripts: (1) A tribute to Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba and his family, (2) a historical account of Cheikh ahmadou Bamba's travel experience in Senegal and Mauritania during his conflict with the French colonial administration, (3) a prayer and discussion on the hardships of life in 1929, (4) a collection of poems of Serigne Mbaye Diakhate, and (5) a translation with commentaries of the Qur'an using Wolof Ajami.

Physical characteristics of original material: Images in this collection were captured using digital photography. Some images are difficult to read due to the condition of the materials which have ink stains.

5 sets of unbound manuscripts of 842 pages in total. The original materials in the collection were written between 1903 and 1954. Script of material: Wolof Ajami (Wolofal).
