Cheikh Lo Collection

The collection consists of digital copies of one Wolofal (Wolof Ajami) manuscript copied as part of the EAP 334 project.The documents were written in 1978 by Serigne Dame Ndiaye in Darou Karim, Touba. Based upon the interview with the owner, the manuscript was commissioned by Serigne Galaye Diagne after the death of Cheikh Modou Faty Khary Mbacke, the first son of Serigne Massamba Mbacke, in 1978. Serigne Galaye Diagne, Serigne Dame Ndiaye (the author), and the owner's father Serigne Ndiaga Lo were all first disciples of Serigne Massamba Mbacke and became disciples of Serigne Modou Khary Mbacke after the death of his father, as customarily done among followers of Muridiyya. The manuscript celebrates the life and work of Serigne Massamba Mbacke's family including his son Serigne Modou Faty Khary Mbacke.
