Le Semeur de l'Inde française: Revue mensuelle catholique mensuelle, Pondichéry and its supplement, L'Écho de Notre Dame des anges, 18th year; Issues 1 to 12. Supplement: 1st year, Issues 1 to 12, Oct 1931-Sep 1932

Le Semeur de l'Inde française: Revue mensuelle catholique was a journal published by the Church of Notre Dame des Anges along with its parish supplement l'Echo de Notre-Dame des Anges It contained an evangelical page, poems, tableaux of modern life and other amusing pieces, as well as various news of religious and ecclesiastical interest. It also carried a “sports corner”, a page with amusing anecdotes, a page for the young, a local history page, and local and other news

It included B&W photographs of various places and activities in Pondicherry. The supplement l'Echo de Notre-Dame des Anges contained entries such as: an events calendar of the parish, the priest’s conversations, catechism honour roll, work done by the parish and an “aunt’s advice” page. Subscribers could also contribute their writings. The annual subscription rate was 3 rupees in Pondicherry and 25 francs in France. The cover page and head of the articles were decorated with small b&w illustrations.

The Semeur was started in 1913, but had to be interrupted “for reasons independent of our will” ( Semeur Oct. 1931, p.2). It was resurrected in 1931. It ran probably for 17 years before being interrupted, since the Oct 1931 issue mentions 18ème année, (i.e 18th year), no. 1. However the supplement might not have appeared in the earlier edition, since the Echo of 1931 starts with the mention 1st year, 1st issue. The library holding for the journal and its supplement covers only one year, from October 1931 to September 1932. The journal must have run till at least February 1938, since the French National Library has the issue for that month. No information is available for subsequent volumes

1 volume containing 24 issues (including 12 issues of the supplement). Dimensions: 25.5 x 19.5 cm.
