Los Andes [1882-1929]

It contains the register of the population of this Province. That lived in the communities and in the "haciendas" (large private states) and continued paying, as in the Colonial Period, a state tax known as the "indigenal contribution", amounting as much as 40% of the state total income. In this territorial jusrisdiction are the following Cantons: Aygachi, Collocollo, Laja, Puerto Perez, Peñas, Villa Perez y Pucarani. There are also the following ones: Cachapa, Challana, Yanacachi, Liguata, Tipuani, Guanay, Mapiri, Conzata, Ananca, Combaya, Tacacoma, Chuchulaya, Quiabaya, Ylabaya and Sorata belonging to the jurisdiction of the Lacareja Province.

This Province was created by the division of the second Section of the Omasuyos Province (Law of November 24 1917).
