Collet meticulously collected material on the activities of the Brahmo Samaj from different sources and published several books on Brahmo Samaj including the Life and Letters of Raja Ram Mohun Roy, which was published by F. H Stead after her death in 1900 and considered as the most detailed and accurate account on Roy’s life and work. The private papers of Sophia Dobson Collet came under the custody of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj, Kolkata. Brahmo Samaj is a socio-religious organization in India founded by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in 1828. It aimed at reforming the Hindu society and creating a platform for rational thinking, scientific temper, and social progress. The basic principles of Brahmo Samaj include belief in one universal God, rejection of idol worship, recognition of the equality of all humans, and emphasis on education and women's rights. It played a crucial role in the Indian Renaissance and laid the foundation for future socio-religious reform movements in the country. The Sadharan Brahmo Samaj was founded in 1878 as a result of a schism within the Brahmo Samaj and it represented the more progressive and socially conscious faction of Brahmonism. It developed an elaborate all-India network and promoted social harmony and progressive thinking. The Minute Books represent a vital part of the archive preserved by the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj.
