The French Patriot: Commercial, Literary and Political Journal is a newspaper published in Montevideo entirely in French. Its first number appears on February 1, 1843 and ended on December 15, 1850. It was founded by Joseph Vial and its main editor was Arsène Isabelle. Its periodicity, like its dimensions, varied with the passage of time. Periodicity: n° 1 – n° 2423: daily publication, except Mondays and days following holidays n° 2424 – 2594: three-weekly publication (Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays) n° 2595 – 2621: daily publication n° 2622 – 2645: three-weekly publication (Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays) Measures: 248mm x 357mm to 265mm x 400mm. According to an article published in its first issue, the publication is a continuation of the newspaper The French Messenger (Montevideo, 1840-1842). The newspaper was essential for the Franco-Uruguayan community and for the French investors installed in Uruguay at that time.

Periodicidad: n° 1 – n° 2423: publicación diaria, excepto lunes y días siguientes a festivos n° 2424 – 2594: publicación trimestral (domingos, miércoles y viernes) n° 2595 - 2621: publicación diaria n° 2622 – 2645: publicación trimestral (domingos, miércoles y viernes).
