Custodial history: The Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv was established in November 1939 under the name Central Archive of Ancient Acts in Lviv. The archive library was formed on the basis of archives that existed before World War II – the Archive of Ancient Acts of Lviv, the Zemsky Archive, as well as a number of departmental, corporate and private collections.
