विश्वमित्र

Vishwamitra started off as a nationalist Hindi daily from Kolkata in 1916 and became a monthly from October 1932. Its robust run continued well after Indian Independence. Vishwamitra departed from the practice of reproducing material from English, and encouraged well rounded news coverage of social reform, politics, and economics, and of course carried literature. This Sub-series comprises 4 issues of Vishwamitra from the year 1939. They include articles with a global focus on subjects such as colonialism, imperialism, the origins and unfolding of the Second World War, its impact on Indian industry, and the violence of the Nazi regime. The section on women in each issue features articles on topics like education, employment, marriage, divorce and remarriage of widows. Also featured are articles on music, literature, psychology and science.
