Legal Documents at the Pamparomas Archive

Documentation concerning evidence used in an 18th century legal case which took c. 30 yrs, by the community of Pamparomas against the Dominican Colegio de Santo Tomas about land and water rights. The documents include transcriptions of earlier 16th and 17th century material used in evidence as well as a hand drawn map of the territories in question.

Extent: 1 partially disbound volume 104 folios; 1 set of loose sheets, typescript 18 folios; 1 partially disbound volume 265 folios, 1 hand drawn map; 1 partially disbound volume 445 folios.

Condition of original material: The material as well as well preserved pages includes badly stained, torn and faded material, and has losses.

Custodial history: The material has been continuously in possession of the community of Pamparomas, presently the town council.

Arrangement: The document is written in various different hands and writtent by members of the community of Pamparomas, it copies out earlier material and was created over a period of c. 30 years.
