The State Silk Museum's Collection of Photographs (1889-1910)

The State Silk Museum's collection of the printed individual photographs and photo albums from 19th-20th centuries. The photos depict process of silk production, ethnography, portraits, natural environment, architecture etc.

The project digitised the following series.

• EAP1306/1/5 Silk Thread Production and Silk Weaving.

• EAP1306/1/7 Sericulture Stations.

• EAP1306/1/8 Sericulture in Japan.

• EAP1306/1/9 Miscellaneous.

Extent: 279 individual photos, 14 mounts with several photos (40 photos in total) and 4 albums with 215 photos.

Condition of original material: The photos and mounts are mostly deformed and stained, sometimes torn.

Custodial history: The material was created by the employees of the museum or donated by different people.

Arrangement: Photographs of 1889-1910 is part of the State Silk Museum's photo/video collection. Each individual printed photos and albums have separate accession numbers. Salome Phachuashvili, the collection curator was responsible for the arrangement.
