This sub-fonds consists of eight Bengali 'popular market' books digitised as part of the EAP127 project. The original material was collected by Svrovonti Basu, a former member of the School of Cultural Texts and Records, through casual purchase in Kolkata.
None of the books are dated; however, given the condition, subjects and print quality of the material, it is possible to derive a scope date of late 20th century to early 21st century.
The collection covers subjects typical of Benglai 'popular market' books or 'chapbooks', consisting of film scores and songs, popular literature, and books concerning religious rituals, songs, and devotional texts.
