This fonds consists of 1,087 books digitised as part of the EAP127 Archiving popular market Bengali books project. The books are listed within seven sub-fonds, reflecting the arrangement of the original materials held by the School of Cultural Texts and Records, Jadavpur University. These divisions reflect the development of the School's collection of Popular Market books. Further information is provided at the sub-fonds level. The original materials were published between 1870-2005; many of the collection items are undated. This scope date is therefore the product of an educated guess by the School of Cultural Texts and Records. Material is primarily written in Bengali, although Hindi and Sanskrit (in Bengali and Devanagari scripts) and English also appear.
