The Nyasaland Times

This is a collection of the oldest Newspapers ever published in the country. The Newspaper was founded in 1895 with the name Central African Planter and later on in 1900 the name was changed to Nyasaland Times. In 1964 after Malawi gained its independence, the name was again changed to The Times and in 1972 to the Daily Times. The newspaper contains news and infomation from around the world including local Nyasaland news,. Extent: 15 volumes of newspapers containing 9301 pages. Condition of original material: Some pages are torn, badly folded, are brittle and balck ink is fading. Custodial history: The Material was published at Blantyre Newspapers Limited in Blantyre district in Malawi. The news papers were then collected, bounded in volumes and stored at the National Archives of Malawi repositories. Arrangement: The material is arranged according to dates of creatoin.
