The series contains digital images of 104 issues of the newspaper al-Qabas, covering the period September 1913 - September 1934. al-Qabas ('The Firebrand') was established and published by Shukri al-Asali in Damascus 1913; al-Asali was also the editor up to his execution in 1916. Following this, Najib al-Rayyis assumed editorship. al-Qabas was frequently suspended by the authorities, due to its uncompromising political stance.
