Liceo Neandro Schilling Collection

Custodial history: The documents have been produced by the high school based on their educational activities.

Author(s)/Creator(s): The Liceo Neandro Schilling de San Fernando was founded in 1846 to provide secondary humanistic education to children and young people in what was the capital of the province of Colchagua, the agricultural center of Chile. After occupying several unsuitable premises, in 1891 the Lyceum moved to the modern building designed especially for its educational purpose, located in front of the city's Plaza de Armas. As a result of the student mobilizations of recent years, the enrollment of the lyceum -which remains in its original place- has been affected, and today it serves 630 students from the most vulnerable sectors of the area.

Arrangement: In 2013, the School Archives Program in collaboration with the teacher Pedro Marchant and his Heritage Workshop –financed by the PLALA program– prepared a documentary cadaster of the liceo´s archive, in which documents were arranged chronologically by series. Besides, a documentary inventory was arranged for the archive. Currently there is no classification scheme.
