This collection consists of Portuguese manuscript documents from the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Assunção de Cabo Frio, Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The volumes were produced during the colonial, Imperial, and Republican periods and include baptismal records (1675-1896), marriage (1675-1925) and burial records (1678-1944) of free, freed (liberta/forra), and enslaved individuals. Custodial history: The volumes were produced by the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Assunção de Cabo Frio. In accordance with local custom and Canonical Law, all documentation of a permanent nature produced by the Parish is transferred to the Archive of the Archdiocese of Niterói after 70 years.
