This collection is comprised of Portuguese manuscript documents from the parish (Freguesia) of Paraíba in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It consists of baptismal and burial records of enslaved and free people dating from 1729 to 1752. Custodial history: The volume was produced by the Parish (Freguesia) of Paraíba. In accordance with local custom and Canonical Law, all documentation of a permanent nature produced by the Parish is transferred to the Archive of the Archdiocese of Niterói after 70 years.
