This collection consists of Portuguese manuscript documents from the Church of Nossa Senhora do Amparo de Maricá, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The volumes were produced during the colonial, imperial, and Republican periods and consist of baptismal (1701-1995), marriage (1684-1888), and burial (1706-1875) records of free, freed (forra/liberta), and enslaved people. Custodial history: The volumes were produced by the Church of São Pedro da Aldeia, São Pedro da Aldeia-RJ. In accordance with local custom and Canonical Law, all documentation of a permanent nature produced by the Parish is transferred to the Archive of the Archdiocese of Niterói after 70 years.
