The collection consists of Portuguese manuscript documents from the Church of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The volumes were produced during the colonial, Imperial, and Republican periods and consists of baptismal (1770 - 1886), marriage (1866 - 1884), and burial (1724-1862) records of free, freed (forro/liberto), and enslaved people. Custodial history: The volumes were produced by the Church of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In accordance with local custom and Canonical Law, all documentation of a permanent nature produced by the Parish is transferred to the Archive of the Archdiocese of Niterói after 70 years.
