Akshyay Granthagar Library's Manuscript Collection

This collection deals with Sanskrit grammar, Smriti, cantos of the Mahabharata, dramas, the Puranas, Tantric liturgies and rituals, Gaudiya Vaishnava hagiography, theology and rituals, Shaivite liturgies and rituals, Ayurveda medicine, lexicons, aesthetics, and poetry. Taken together, 294 Sanskrit and Bangla manuscripts, along with 1 Sanskrit book printed in form of a manuscript have been copied at Akshay Granthagar, and a total number of 20156 digital images have been generated. Custodial history: Akshyay Granthagar is a small town library in Santipur, Nadia, West Bengal, was established in 1947 under the West Bengal Public Library Acts and partly funded by the Government of West Bengal. It is a house of a couple of thousand books and about 295 manuscripts gifted to the library by several families, details of which is not recorded with the library.
