The Jacques Mosseri Genizah Archive

This fonds contains digital images of a selection of the Jacques Mosseri Genizah Archive. The collection contains more than 7,000 fragments. The dates of its content range from the tenth century to the early twentieth century. Most of the genres typical of the Taylor-Schechter Collection, such as religious works, legal documents, letters, medicine, and belles letters, are found here, and a number of items can be matched or re-joined with T-S fragments. Alongside biblical, liturgical, and talmudic fragments, and treasures like autograph fragments of Maimonides'' Guide for the Perplexed are everyday items, including cheques, shopping lists, magical texts, and doodles. 1000 fragments were digitised (recto and verso), predominantly from boxes I-VII of the collection, which consist primarily of halakhic and documentary material. Further information about the archive collection is available on the Cambridge University Library webpages: http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/Taylor-Schechter/jmgc.
