"Photographic Collection of the Jila Photography Shop in Arak, Iran [Early 20th century]"

This fonds consists of digital images of a sample of photographs owned by the Jila Photography Shop in Arak, Iran, created as part of the project EAP001 Faces and Places in Iran: Iranian Photography at the Turn of the 20th Century.

The project reported that the Jila Photography Shop holds over 500 pieces of Iranian photography from the Qajar period, taken in and around Arak. Digital images were taken of a sample of these.

Unfortunately, information concerning the provenance, context and subjects of these photographs is unknown to the owners, and so the information presented in this catalogue is necessarily incomplete. It is thought that the photographs date from the early 20th century.
