Primarily about Dr James T. Rutnam's research around Henry Seymour Conway and his connection to Sir Alexander Johnston. Includes: (1) 1983 letter from Christopher Campbell-Johnston to Dr James T. Rutnam about the latter's book on Sir Alexander Johnston; (2) typed copy, "The Conway Letters to Horace Walpole. Their connection with the Campbells of Argyll and Sir Alexander Johnston, Chief Justice of Ceylon," with Rutnam's edits; (3) 1957 to Sylvia Trollope from Rutnam, about his book on Field Marshal Henry Seymour Conway; (4) 1955 lettters to Dr Wilmarth Sheldon Lewis, editor of the Yale edition of Horace Walpole's Correspondence, from Rutnam; (5) 1955 letters to J.R.N. Shirreff, chief manager of Mercantile Bank, Colombo, from Rutnam. Shirreff was in charge of photocopying Conway's letters for Rutnam; (6) lists of letters from Conway to Walpole; (7) letters between Rutnam and W.S. Lewis regarding their shared interest in Conway and Walpole.
