A brief sketch of the life of Charles Ambrose Lorenz

Written by M.S. Mahendran & published by the American Ceylon Mission Press at Tellippalai, 1918. Charles Ambrose Lorenz (1829-1871), a Dutch Burgher born in Matara, was a barrister, member of the Ceylon Legislative Council (1856-1864), and chief editor and proprietor of The Ceylon Examiner (1859-1871). Lorenz was known to be one of the first Ceylonese to work for self-rule. There is a separate newspaper clipping about S.K. Lawton (1851-1919), a pioneer photographer in Jaffna, is tucked into the front page of the book.
