Collection of sermons by famous German Lutheran missionary C.F. Schwartz of the Halle-Tranquebar mission in South India, likely collected in the 1780s and 90s. Topics range from a narrative description of the Pentateuch to instructions for catechists in India. R.E. Frykenberg calls Schwartz the most important nineteenth-century missionary in India for his mission work (1750-1799). Schwartz was also the teacher of Vedanayagam Sastriar, an important Tamil Protestant poet and hymn-writer at the court of Serfoji II in Thanjavur.
