Libro 1 de Reconocimientos de Hijos Naturales [1848-1858]

the parish church of La Caridad from 1848-1858. Each entry contains data on the recently baptised child, the mother, and witnesses who attest to the testimony of paternity. The child takes the father's name, even though this was highly uncommon for Hijos Naturales (literally "Natural Children").

This is the only book of its kind viewed by the project director. It begins with an order from the Bishop of Santa Clara to have a book that contains this information, and requires the signature of the birth father and his recnogintion that there is no religious reason that he is not married to the mother. This is highly unusual.
