The file contains some of the important memorials, representations and notes by the Zamindars and Raiyats of the district of Goalpara in the province of Assam, urging the transfer of the permanently settled area of Goalpara to Bengal (from the year 1874 to 1925). Extent and format of original material: One volume 86 folio 1 leaf. Physical characteristics: Pagination: i to ii, 1 - 70, 1 to 2, 1 to 10, 1 to 4, 1 to 5, 1 to 4, 3 pages without pagination, 1 to 7, 1 to 2, 1 to 11. Printed as well as typescripts. Found as a bunch on the topic of Goalpara district. The British Indian Association authority kept the various deliberations on this subject together to document the issue. While digitization, the files were maintained in its original arrangement. This documentation is a series of multiple files. These different files have different pagination. Hand written notes present in between lines. 1st booklet is in better conditon compared to the loose pages. Typescript pages are extremely brittle. The pages are moth-eaten, yellowed, acidic and very brittle. Edges torn. Marks of foxing, fungal infestation, reverse impressions, patches of colour and rust marks are visible. Item was probably exposed to moist conditions. Fold marks were present. Pages are very brittle. Torn pages and edges. Pen writing present.
