हर्षचरितम्

A biography of the emperor Harshavardhana (7th century AD) by his court poet Banabhatta. This volume was edited and annotated by Isvara Candra Vidyasagara, one of the pioneers of Bengal renaissance in late nineteenth century. Written as a textbook for the students and a good example of the transformation of Sanskrit language form sixth to nineteenth centuries. Custodial history: One of the oldest libraries in the Hooghly district. Sisir Bani Mandir was established at Guptipara in 1917. The library has a good collection of old Sanskrit and Bengali manuscripts and some rare books in different languages. Administrative context: The CSSSC, on realising the importance of copying the collection applied for a grant to the EAP against which EAP921 has been awarded. Calendar: Common Calendar.
