Story of Bijana Grama written in verse. The book shows decline of the village based economic development with the advent of colonialism. The bad effect of various colonial laws regarding re-regulating village administration. Apart from that, the book also criticized the emergence of western modernity and women empowerment in the rural society. Custodial history: One of the oldest libraries in the Hooghly district. Sisir Bani Mandir was established at Guptipara in 1917. The library has a good collection of old Sanskrit and Bengali manuscripts and some rare books in different languages.
