A compilation of short biographies of seventeen famous persons of Bengal. It includes biographies of Raghunath Siromani, Isvara Candra Vidyasagar, Radha Kanta Dev, Madan Mohan Tarkalankar and many others. Written by Sambhucandra Bidyaratna, brother of Isvar Candra Vidyasagar, the book was once a popular textbook in the schools of Bengal. Custodial history: One of the oldest libraries in the Hooghly district. Sisir Bani Mandir was established at Guptipara in 1917. The library has a good collection of old Sanskrit and Bengali manuscripts and some rare books in different languages.
