Jagatjyoti, published in Bengali, was the official journal of Bouddhadharmankur Sabha (Bengal Buddhist Association), a religious organisation based in Calcutta [Kolkata]. The main target area of this religious monthly journal was resuscitate the Buddhist philosophy and promote the canonical dogmas of Buddhism among mass. The regional journal generally tried to translate old Buddhist Pali texts in Bengali for Bengali learners, specially for the Bengali Pali students. Custodial history: The Bauddha Dharmankure Sabha (Bengal Buddhist Association) was founded in the year 1892 by the Most Ven’ble Kripasaran Mahasthavir to work for the revival and regeneration of Buddhism in the land of its birth. This association has an eronmous collection of some rare and precious books, journals, specially they have an extra-ordinary collection regarding Buddhist literature and philosophy in Bengali. The institution has generously allowed the archive team to get access to this material for digitization and as per the copyright rules and regulations.
