The north western portion of the ceiling portray the Kaliyamardhana (the banishment of Kaliya from the lake of the Yamuna) and Gajendra Moksha episode. Lord Vishnu came down to earth to protect Gajendra, the elephant, from the clutches of Makara, the Crocodile and with Vishnu's blessing, Gajendra attained Moksha or Salvation.
