Paper: Russian machine-made paper with a stamp of the manufacture of А. Sumkin the merchant’s heirs, Vologda Governorate, had been made in 1869, 1909. [ref.: Клепиков С.А. Филиграни и штемпели на бумаге русского и иностранного производства XVII-XX вв. М., 1959. № 202]. Writing style: half-uncial script by several hands. Cyrillic numeric pagination (scriber’s). Decoration: headings and initials with red inks; headpieces with floral ornament (f. 1, 14, 57, 89, 101, 125), on f. 1, 87 paper stickers (decals) supplement or replace illustration (added in the second half of the 20th century); headings with vyaz (f. 1, 57, 89, 101, 125); initials with floral ornament (f. 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 14, 16, 18, 24, 25, 27, 32, 33, 35, 36, 41, 43, 45, 50, 57, 58, 61, 62, 64, 66, 68, 73-75, 79, 81, 83, 85, 89, 92, 94, 101-104, 115, 116, 129, 131); end-piece in the so-called style Playing Text [игра текстом] – triangle-shaped objects (f. 13, 45, 53, 88, 161, 166, 167, 169, 171).

The Horologion is a liturgical book containing the fixed portions of the Daily Cycle of services: Matins, Midnight Office, Vespers and Compline with hours of reading (for instance, 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th). As a rule, Troparions and Canons to several saints, prayers to the Mother of God and Sticherons are added to these texts. This manuscript contains following articles: the Troparion and Canon to Saint Pishoy (said for those who died unshriven), dismissal hymns to the Mother of God [Богородичны отпустительны] and a fragment from Singing Alphabet - a guide to music theory for studying church music illustrated by the example of the special church hymn Vozzvakh [Calling / Воззвах] (echos 1-8) and the poglasitsa O Chernetse [About the monk // О чернеце], there is unknown type of non-linear notation of late origin (by atribution of T.G.Kazanseva (Novosibirsk)). Binding: 2nd half of the 18th century, wooden binding, leather with tooling, 2 closures. Reader’s notes, bookmarks.
