Title in original script: பஞ்ச பக்ஷி சாத்திரம் The manuscript is composed of a text made up of 27 unnumbered palm leaves; it is complete. The leaves of the manuscripts, which were stuck by fungus and mould, formed a bloc. They have been separated without damage, but the leaves, quite often broken, are extremely breakable, making the consultation of the manuscript very difficult. The text, entitled Pañca Pakṣi Cāttiram, concerns prediction (āruṭam), one part of astrology. The concept of the Pañca Pakṣi refers to five birds which are owl (āntai), hawk (vallūṟu), peacock (mayil), crow (kākā) and hen (kōḻi) which are used in case of disease to make the diagnosis and to predict the evolution of the disease. These birds are also by tradition-attached people to define the appropriate time to start an action and to accomplish a good deed.
