வர்ம நூல்

Title in original script: வர்ம நூல் The manuscript is made up of a text composed of palm leaves numbered from 2 to 45; the leaf n°27 is missing, and a leaf, written in Malayalam and containing some diagrams is placed at the beginning of the text. The manuscript is in good condition for reading despite the leaves are very darkened and some scripts are damaged by fungus infestation; the last leaf is partly broken. Size of the manuscript 18,1cm x 3,2cm. The palm leaves of the text are numbered in Malayalam and Arab from 1 to 45; the leaf 27 is missing. The text is in condition for reading, although some scripts are slighly damaged by fungus infestation. The text, entitled Varma Nūl, is written in verses. It mentions the names and location of some vital spots (varmaṅkaḷ) in the body: oṭṭu varmam, katir varmam, putti varmam, asti varmam, oṟṟai varmam and iraṭṭai varmam; tilartta kālam, miṉveṭṭi kālam, mantira kālam, uṟakka kālam, uṟumi kālam, pūṉūl kālam and mūttira kālam; velluṟumi and valluṟumi, as well as those situated in the head. This text supports the idea that the number of varmaṅkaḷ in the body is of 108, an idea not shared by all the practitioners specialised in varma practice of the Kanniyakumari district.
